When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Of the three styles they have; plastic, textured, rubber, which have the slimmest profile, or just flat out what's the thicknesses of the three styles?
Also, any opinions as to which is more comfortable?
I did search, nothing came up as to the thickness, and a few came up on comfort but I figured i'd throw it in to have the info in one place

THe pastic and rubber handles are the same thickness, at least with the ones I have.

The "textured" picks are slightly wider by about 1/8 inch profile wise, but shorter than the rubber and plastic handles top to bottom. The rubber / plastic feel slightly larger in the hand lentghwise though.
The textured grip offers more comfort, but not sure if it would provide all of the feedback that some desire although the feedback is very good, it is slightly less pronounced than the rubber or plastic (the textured handle is not very spongy, but more like the grips that you would find on most needlenose pliers or small wire cutters). Mind you that you can't go wrong with any of the Peterson handle styles. All do the job. I have not used the textured very much as I only have them for about a week. They perform to the standards that I'd expect from Peterson with a unique feel that differs a bit from some of the common manufacturers. I have both the rubber and plastic also and tend to lean to the rubber but again, I prefer all three styles over my Southords and Hpc's hands down. I have converted the plactic picks to "slimlines" via a Dremel, sanding, and re-blueing and have had great success with the more restricted keyways.
You should be satisfied with any of the three... but for me, I'd go with the rubber or plastic first.

Agreed Chucklz.
If you actually look at the price to get the Just Picks (7 picks rubber OR plastic) and a U-Bend it separately its about $12 less than the full Tri-fold set which has 7 rubber AND plastic as well as the lovely case. Much better deal imho.
As an aside, I've got to say that I prefer the plastic to the rubber. I really don't find them any less comfortable but they just seem to have better feedback.

I must say, I'm a little perturbed by this...what are we talking about here?...Trousers?
If it weren't for the "As an aside,", I'd have still assumed you were talking about picks...
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

I have never had the pleasure to use rubber handled petersons, but the plastic handles i have on my petersons a nice little buggers.

This might help a bit Gian... The black picks are the Peterson rubber and the orange picks are the textured...

I have one of Peterson's Kits from the kind people at Lockpicks.com (Highly recommended.) and the kit has both the Blue plastic and Black rubber handled picks. It does not have the Orange "textured" handle picks in there but I have the Peterson Straight Knife tool and it is apparently the same finish that is on that.
All of them feel OK, as someone mentioned above, the rubber (Black) handles tend to dampen felt vibrations through the steel and you don't get this with the plastic (Blue) handles.
When you buy a Kit like this one, the one I own, you can actually take the duplicates out of it and then make a second emergency or spare kit out of the duplicates. You can then stuff other tools, handmade or other, in the slots left vacant by removing half of the picks.
The U-Bend It tool with steel strips is very nice, nice idea and nice execution but whenever I have the chance, I prefer LAB turning tools and rigid HPC turning tools.
The Peterson Case is second only in quality to HPC cases as of right now, as far as what I have examined. Every HPC case I have ever owned was simply flawless and with an excellent zipper, unlike the Southern Ordnance ones I have owned - to each his own on that issue. I prefer HPC cases but the Peterson tool roll type of case is really quite nice.
