When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Totally random here, but has anyone else ever bought picks they knew to be junk to get the case they came in for your good picks? I just bought a set of Goso picks that I'm fairly certain I'll never use based on the reviews I've seen because they were cheaper (I paid $12) than any case I've found that looks as good as the one they come with.

I'd love to see a picture of the pick case.... where did you buy/order them from?

Here's the link I got it from. https://www.wish.com/c/56343747b3c0b22f932a2155 Like I said, the case looks pretty nice, but the picks I'll probably never use. I know the picks to be junk based on three reviews I've seen. One was Bosnianbill reviewing it. I forget who the other two were. Bill was so scornful of them that he burned the set at the end of the review (and they actually melted - further proof of their junk status). One of the others actually said it was a good set but also used the phrase "I've already bent it. I'm not sure how I bent metal that thick" so I think it's safe to say his assessment of it as a "good set" was probably not a very well informed assessment. The last one was in total agreement with Bill that they were junk.

That pick case doesn't look too bad at all. I'm always looking for the upgrade for my current case(s). I may have to give this a shot, and give the shoddy picks to my children to tinker with.

I bought the Goso set a couple years ago to try them out...the picks are complete garbage, for sure. I only use them when I have to do extremely questionable things to locks, and need a pick I don't mind breaking (that said, I've never broken one, only bent to death).
The case is solid, though. Not the highest quality, but the pleather is durable enough. The numerous small pockets let me organize everything to my liking. I carry my actual picks in the Goso case, and threw the Goso "picks" in a drawer.

I've got the set in hand now. The picks are even worse than I thought. One of the hooks actually came pre-bent, for picking around corners I guess (anyone got a HYT chainlock to test that theory? j/k, of course). One of the tension tools is pretty nice, but I could make it out of music wire with about 10 minutes of effort. I guess it's nice to have some Z tools finally, but I honestly doubt I'll ever use them since I seem to be addicted to my prybars. But I think this case is worth the $12 I paid for the set.
Basically I bought a semi-nice case and they threw in a bunch of really bad picks for free.

That case isn't bad for 12$ but Sparrows vorax case is 18 bucks Canadian. So probably about the same price and it's CAMOUFLAGE . I have one, its well worth the money.

Yes, this is a issue I am having now too. Although I am new, I have bought a bunch of different picks and spend time every night picking. Great fun while watching TV at commercial time.
Anyway last night I opened 7 new (for me) locks.
But the cases, I need a cool looking case to carry with me. Does anyone know of suppliers for pick cases....different sizes, material etc.?

The only decent cases I found that don't come with picks are from Sparrows. They weren't quite what I was looking for though. I'm really really happy with this Goso case. The only problem I have with it is that once I pulled all the Goso picks out I don't have enough left to fill it up, so it looks pretty empty. That problem will be solved in the near future when I start to fill out my selection of tools a little more. I'm finding that none of my current picks really deal with paracentric or very small keyways very well, so I'm going to have to do something about that.

That is a nice case. I think the competitor case by Sparrows is a bit nicer, though, and a few dollars less. But then again, it doesn't come with any cheap picks!

I'm not super fond of the sparrows cases, I have several different ones and the materials around the edges of the zips allows the picks to poke though and the rigidity of the outside squashes it together and puts a strain on the zip/stuff inside the case. I'm super fond of the leather petersons cases but they are price as and still not quite finished off nice enough in my opinion (edges are a bit rough, i tore through stitching with the tension tools). Working on trying to get some custom cases made up
