I'm contemplating applying a wax to them, to keep the luster, and to maybe help reduce friction. I'm kind of torn. I use a liquid car wax when I'm done buffing and polishing Folger Adam keys and brass lock bolts. But that is to help protect the brass, and to increase the luster.
I wonder if there is any benefit to applying it to the finished picks. I've also considered using bees wax as well to reduce friction. I'm worried about the bees wax gumming up the practice locks.
Searching earlier posts, I've seen some people advocate one or the other. Has anyone experimented using different compounds? Is there any validity to the theory such a finish would help picking?
