For anyone who didn't get the joke, that was an April Fools Joke. We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.

There are rules, and we are in the process of updating them right now.

In the mean time, here are some old rules that you should still follow:

Lock Picking 101 Rules and Code of Conduct

This forum postings are to be kept clean and professional. This forum exists to educate in a clean manner, to bring lock picking hobbyists and locksmiths together. Our moderators are here to assist in keeping the forum clutter and drama free. We expect you to help in that respect.

By reading, posting, and/or using the information found on this site, the users hold harmless the admin and moderators of this site. In other words, if you use the information found on this site for illegal purposes, don't blame it on us. YOU'RE the criminal. We take ZERO responsibility for any actions but our own.

1. No E-Mail excerpts of any kind are allowed in posts.

2. No press releases, newspapers or copy written materials may be posted, it is alright to post a few sentences using the quote /quote tags followed by the URL as long as the information is not self promotion.

3. Email requests will be deleted. (Exception for the Buy/Sell/Trade forum, of course.)

4. Signing your name is allowed, however URL dropping in signatures is disallowed and will be removed. Your profile (page) can contain a URL however it may not be referred to. (The only exception to this rule is for moderators, administrators, and approved lp101 commercial site sponsor(s))

5. Your user name cannot contain any of the following: domain name, business name, an email address or web address, or anything obscene or profane .

6. You agree that you will not copy or re-transmit any of the information from within this site without first attaining permission of LockPicking101.com and the original author of the message. All posts are copyright LockPicking101.com unless otherwise noted.

7. You are responsible for your own posts and agree not to hold the admin, the poster, the host or anyone else liable for any messages posted.

8. Posts/threads referring to illegal activity will be deleted without notification.

9. Flaming other posters is not in permitted on any forum. All flames will be deleted/edited, and the poster warned.

10. Avoid topics such as politics and religion in respect of differing opinions.

11. Signature lines should be kept to a maximum of 3 lines of text in height.

12. No public discussion or threads of moderators/staff decisions. Public discussion of a moderators action will get you banned.

13. Profanity is unacceptable, and will be deleted. Frequent use will lead to your status being removed. Note that bypassing the word filter and then arguing semantics with the mods is a good way to get banned.

14. Avoid hotlinking images. If not your own pics, use the direct URL to the page, and credit the original author.

15. Trolling will get you banned. Do NOT Troll.

16. Advertising your business within ANY of the forums without permission from the admin will get you banned. Addendum: Advertizing for a business you may or may not represent by means of posting company contact information, inventory levels, and pricing, is also not allowed. If the company wishes to purchase ad space on the forum, please contact a member of the admin team. Forum management reserves the right to decide if a post crosses the line in mentioning a good deal somewhere, versus obvious advertizing or self promotion

17. Impersonating a Moderator will get you banned.

18. Due to the increased internet activity and new sites popping up daily we do not allow posting of direct competition lockpicking forums or message boards other than to our friends at Keypicking or Reddit /r/lockpicking, or indirect competition websites or links on this forum. We will not be an advertising portal, for ad-rates contact Mr. Picks via PM.

19. Discussion of topics deemed "advanced" are reserved for the advanced forums. If you don't have access to post in the Advanced area, this does not mean you may post your Advanced level question in a general public area of the forum. Your post will be deleted or moved to the Advanced area. This is for the public good.
These topics include:
Updated 12/21/2020
A) advanced pick tools
B) automotive bypass & picking vehicle locks or ignitions
C) bypass of locks
D) drilling safes
E) destructive entry or locks, doors, or safes
F) Vending locks or locks typically used to guard product or money.

20. One account per user please. If you have forgotten your account name or for whatever reason are unable to access your account, please contact an administrator (Squelchtone) via email and he will help you rectify the problem. Creation of multiple accounts is strictly prohibited and can result in a permanent ban from the site.

21. Sig images can be no larger than 600 pixels wide and 80 pixels in height.

22. Necromancing is frowned upon. Please don't wake up old dead threads from years ago by replying to them. Start a new thread for the same topic if you must, but don't reply to 5 to 10 year old thread to say "cool lock, bro!" If you are one of the original people in the old thread and came to provide an important update or answer an old question, they you may do so. If it's older than 12 to 18 months, please resist replying to it.
