Which picks should I buy/start off with? With this budget.

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Which picks should I buy/start off with? With this budget.

I have $16 and I'm planing on buying some individual picks since it would be the cheapest. I was going to buy some with the plain handle from http://www.lockpicktools.com/lockpicks.htm but I don't know which picks I should get. The shipping is 5.95 and will need a tension wrench which is 1.48 and that leaves me 8.57 which can buy me 6 picks. What should I get?

Southord.com has individual picks. I would order a twsit flex tension wrench, and a standard tension wrench. $2.50 so far, then I would get A standard C rake, Standard L rake, Standard Small Diamond, Standard W rake. $6.00 for the rakes
Then I would get a short hook with a stainless steel handle. $3.90 alone
Thats about $13, plus you'll have to scrounge up shipping. Which is $4.95
Then all you need to do is go to the dollar store, and find some sorta case.

This, by far, is NOT the only post with a budget. There are MANY MANY posts out there that describe the basic starter kit, which is essentially 4 different picks and 2 tension wrenches.

Get a couple of hooks, a diamond and a rake-type pick. 2 tension wrenches would be nice too. If you find yourself out of money, make the wrenches yourself. There is loads of threads on making tension wrenches so it shouldnt be a prob.

Gl anyway!

I agree with Kaellman. Make sure you get a hook if not two. Proper sized hook+tension wrench and you'll be golden. Rakes are for variety lol.

is there any particular reason you're buying from that site? if you buy from the site sponsor shop lockpickshop, enter lp101 as the coupon code and you get 10% discount on your order.

i made up a little shopping list and included:
TW-11 Tension Wrench - Thin Line Standard
SP-07 Small Diamond Lock Pick
SP-08 Long Hook Lock Pick
SP-10 C Rake Lockpick
TW-03 Tension Wrench - Long Twist Flex
SP-09 Short Hook Lock Pick

including the 10% discount of $1.17 the total came to $10.53, i think they add shipping costs later which come to $5.75, with a total of $16.28

thats pretty close to your $16 limit and if they take the discount off the shipping costs as well, it should come to slightly less!
