You might have seen my other post, now im looking for a place to buy picks from in new zealand.(the lockpick shop shipping charges are more expensive than the actual picks for me )

Any suggestions?

have you tought of makeing your own picks its not actuly to hard if you have a grider of some description(bench grinder/angel grinder seem to work best)
i find the best thing to make the picks out of is hack saw blades

2 Feelers - Round & Half-Round
3 Snake Rakes - of various lengths, heights and bump frequency
2 Diamonds - Half & Double Diamond
2 Circle - Circle & Snowman
1 Sawtooth Rake
3 Tension Wrenchs - Small, Medium & Large

I'm sure other people will have other prices but you'd be better off making your own..... really.

3 hooks
2 half diamonds
2 rakes

plus various tension wrenches

i wanted to buy a set to compare them

Junior hacksaw blades, allen keys, windshield wiper inserts...lots of things. Use your imagination, I once turned a piece of metal that was used to hang framed pictures into a two-pronged wrench, and it worked perfectly.

There are several threads discussing the making of picks. These threads are well equiped with templates, fotos, drawings, manuals, .....
... you get it, whatever a pickmakers heart whishes. A little search will bring up loads of worthwhile information.

See above, basically there are several types of tension wrenches mostly made from spring steel, streetswiper bristles, windshield wiperblade insterts, allen wrenches, screwdrivers,....

Personally I prefer thoser made of wiperblade insterts over the others for several reasons:
The material is easy to bend, doesn't break too easy, no need for a torch, easily shaped with a file, ...
On the downside they tend to deform and wear off relative quickly.

I'd suggest to buy some tools and continue grinding your pics yourself, as you will learn what works best for you and how to make it. If you have any success using your DIY picks I'D say stick with them.

This is just my opinion and I'm sure nearly any point I made will be oposed by some members. Decide what works best for you and have fun picking locks! Oh, and please post pictures of your picks, I'm always eager to see what other DIY pickmakers create.

i think i said this in another post that had your pics on it but they is realy good stuff there although i would advise to grind down the teath of the blades i have cut my hands up pretty bad useing picks that still have that teath and its not exactly fun just a tip
