MPXS 32 & Pad shims

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

MPXS 32 & Pad shims

Hello all,
I just thought id let you guys know last night from south ord i ordered in seperate orders, a MPXS 32 (which my dad is givin' me for christmas 8) ) and some padlock shims for my self. I ordered em seperate to lessen the risk of them being picked up at customs, but i don't see that as a problem as i reckon the chances of em getting through are 99.9 % .
Even if they do pick them up what can they do? Lockpicks are not illegal - bugurlary tools are illegal. And plus to the untrained eye they are screw drivers and little saws. I just thought of this now im guessing even locksmiths would order picks from over seas sometimes so im guessing they don't get any trouble and their envelopes they get dont have written "FOR A LOCKSMITH BUGGER OFF" Anyway just thought id let you guys know. I will notify you when i recieve em.
Cheers fellas,
Luke

Did you get them

Postby marso » 30 Dec 2003 3:19

Hi Luke,

Just wondering if you got them. In the law section I posted the customs rules and it does not say anywhere about lock picks. They are illegal depending on the wording of your laws. Some say intent, some specify picks themselves etc...

Btw I have had trouble with legal things going through customs so I would not make assumptions like "they would not know any better", i mean anything comming from a "lock shop" online and common sense, if they see it and care they will work it out.

So did you get your stuff through customs?

Thanks in advance.

MPXS 32 & Pad shims

Hi Luke,
SouthOrd's customs declarations all read "Tool Kit" to lessen potential problems so you shouldn't have any issues with receiving your merchandise.
I am replying to your post because we resellers have all been informed by the USPS that newer, tougher customs forms went into effect just yesterday.
I haven't seen them as yet but our offices open back up tomorrow. I will post to this forum the changes that international customers (if any) should expect as a result of the changes the USPS has made in regards to locksmith tools.

They have this nasty habit of removing anything related to lockpicking (not locksmithing, but some of that too).

Sometimes they just miss it, or it takes them a while to get to it.

Or lockpicks. I heard once that there are ten lurkers for each participant in a forum -- I want to make sure they know that lockpicks are not necessarily burglary tools. I'm sure all the posters already know that, but as this database is searchable via regular search engines, I think it's important to have it in writing.
