peterson lockpicks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

peterson lockpicks

I just thought i would place a link in here for the peterson lockpicks.
There were several discussions about these pick sets a while back and how hard they were to get hold of.
I did a quick search and couldn't find any recent posts on these picks, and as i recently found out where you can purchase them without any need for id i thought i would post a link.

http://www.locksmith-tools.co.uk/acatalog/Peterson_Pick_Sets.html

These picks are very expensive but are said to be the best money can buy.
Does anyone own a set of these as i am seriously considering buying a set,if so do you think that they are worth the money.

Dark Angel,

I have the equivelent of the Government elite 5 set which is their stainless picks, slim picks, and their bypass tools. They are very nice tools but they are not nearly as functional as the Falle Safe picks as they will not fit the more restrictive keyways out there. Keep your eyes open though as last I spoke with Ken they are going to release some slimline picks.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

As soon as digital-blue mentioned the falle safe picks i realised that they were the picks that i was actually after i just mistakingly got them confused with the peterson ones.
What sort of price are we talking about for a set of falle safe picks?
And have you got a link to there site.
I saw a picture of them at safe ventures a while ago but cannot seem to find there sight now.
Thanks

I started to read a few topics a week or so ago and picked up some great info.
Since then i have found a new lease of life going through all the posts and am really enjoing the sight again.
Its nice to see how many people have stayed loyal to the sight such as yourself mad mick varjeal and others.

Welcome back DA, I know what you mean about the site being repetitious at times, but that's why we make templates and adapt them to suit the particular noob.

Wow, where do I start?
1. "What's a pick?"
2. "What's a tension wrench?"
3. "Hi, how do I get into vending machines?" (badly spelt, i.e. "ow do i git in 2....")
4. "How can I open this lock?" *posts pic of vending machine lock* (tries to sound legitimate  get's sussed on 2nd post.)
5. "I'm new and want to pick locks...please spoon-feed me, I'm too dumb/lazy to search." (shows true colours when directed to search, replying with abusive posts such as "You're all a bunch of *****'s, why can't you just give me an answer!...Right now!" etc.)
6. "I'm new and have been told to search...where is the search function?"
7. "I'm new and have searched. I can't find the MIT guide and Pyro's video, as directed." (At least you've tried mate...keep it up. Have a look in the FAQ's etc.)
And all sorts of variations inbetween.

Then we get to the Newbies (which I'm very glad to help)...
1. "Hi, I'm new and have lurked for a while before joining. I'm such_and_such-a-body and have been interested in locks for a while and....blah. I've read a lot of the forum, and made some picks using Pyro's video/various templates/bought some picks/had some picks handed down to me, and I've got some practice locks. I've read the MIT guide and looked on www.howstuffworks.com etc, but I'm having trouble with this lock, it's a....."

I don't think there's any need for a second category...

The above Newbie types make me go out of my way to help. If someone is willing to look at the site, have a go at the multitude of tutorials/guides available, then join and make a post only when they are stuck, then I'll tip my hat to them and help where my personal experience allows.

Another Newbie type, is those who don't natively speak English, but have a decent grasp of picking etc. Where possible, language barriers aside, I'll help out if I can.

I purchased a set of peterson's earlier this year, and frankly, I'm not that impressed.

For the price, a good set of HPC's can be had that are more durable, don't rust, and are just as comfortable as the peterson's I have. The set I have got blue handles and black coated shafts. Oh yeah...HPC's come with a nice case as opposed to a tube...so there. 8)
