hojo, as your topic was called the same way as i would start a new one, i decided to show my new picks in your topic, i hope you don't mind, my picks look a bit like yours, made from the same material

can anybody look at them and give me tips for better / other picks? they are made from a hacksaw blade, grinded down with both grinder and dremel. It was actually the first time i used a grinder, you have to start somewhere! the tension tools are made from grinded down allen wrenches.

can anyone give me some advice on future picks? i have a couple of hacksaw blades left

and some spare time with it..

nice work Helmeester.

well you need some other picks aswell.. isee a half diamond and a half hook.. you will need some rakes such as the s-rake and c-rake, some more hooks and a decent quantity of half diamonds.

hehe ill start working on them today

i was reading through the forum and saw a lot of s-rake and c-rake picks, but i kind of struggled with the idea of actually making them myself because they look hard :roll:

ofcourse i can always try

luckily i have a video where someone makes a s-rake, maybe i can copy his movements.

with quantity you mean more shapes right? like deeper hooks and more shallow diamonds for instant? more shapes to pick different locks? or do people also use different picks to pick different pins in one lock?

well basically you need more half diamonds...tall ones, medium ones and small, they work on different locks..talls good for the annoying smaller pins and the mediums a good pick for most locks.

it's just too bad my lockpicking skills arent as nice as my picks

have to practice a lot more

but making picks is fun as well

does anybody else have some tips on next pick end styles? must haves for a pick collection?

That 5th pick from the left, the weird looking one...it looks good but does it work, I have many rakes and they look awesome, but they dont compare to anything but a bent paperclip :lol:

I think the 5th from the left is called either the king of queen rake... supposeedly (if capably wielded of course) able to open 60% of locks via raking... do a search on it... there is a template for it on the forum...

wow sharp notice you guys

it is a king pick, i researched it in the forum before, it really worked out the way i wanted it to be, but im not too good at picking locks yet so i don't know how usefull it is. Im currently working on my practice look, ill post a picture of it today, made some new picks as well the last days, but im still having trouble pushing down the last 2 pins in a 5 pin lock. the deep hook, shallow hook, big and small diamond all can't do the trick, does anyone know a good shape for pushing pins down far?

I couldn't resist grabbing the camera and showing my progress

this is my current set (on top my newly drilled practice lock):

this is a detailed picture of my picks:

i recently accidentally found some street wiper bristles, so I decided to try one as well as my hacksaw blades. In comparison, the hacksawblades are bending less then the bristles, but the bristles have softer metal, faster to work with while grinding.. they arent too strong though.

does anyone know an answer to my 4th and 5th pin pressing problem? or am i using my picks too hard?
