When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Can anyone tell me if this set is worth $285, what's in it, and if they'll sell to a hobbyist? Perhaps point me to any pics, or post some here if you have a set.
I googled, couldn't come up with anything, also searched here and found nil.
Only thing I can come up with is a listing on what Harry Sher has written for Locks, Safes, and Security.
Thanks for your time.

Ummm, did you look at the Peterson website?
http://www.peterson-international.com/p ... led.htm#G3
Should sort you out somewhat. As for where to get it - if you really want to spend that much, maybe ask the guys at lockpicks.com. They can often special order things from Peterson and there really doesn't seem to be anything 'restricted' that would make it Government only. I think the name's just a marketing thing...

Yes, I've seen the website... it's just hard to see from the small photo, and translate from the description, what is really in it. DAMES set? Theres no other reference to a DAMES set on their website.
Then it says "...Peterson needed a larger full quality pick case, and that it be able to accept the addition of our existing bypass tools...", so does that mean it includes their bypass tools, or it just has room for them? Sounds like it doesn't include them, but then what are you paying $285 for if it doesn't.
Any help? Any photos?

Seems like overkill for hobby picking. Looks like its more designed for someone in... the government

Yes, I've seen that page.... so it does include the bypass tools? Ok, the wording is kinda unclear. Atleast I'm not completely back to square one.
Now what is the "DAMES" set of picks. , seems like no one knows anything about this set.

"DAMES" (Defenses Against Methods of Entry) is a training course, not a type of picks.

it!
I wish someone with some real knowledge about this set would post to this thread Here is where it says their "DAMES set" is included. Yes it is a course, but it apparently is also a set of picks which spun off from the course.
We have added our DAMES (4P-BS) set, an upgraded moly extractor, our slender pick set, and even our enhanced serrated tension tools to this professionals only grade pick set.

So that's the kind of DAMES you were looking for.
I tried to help you find some dames, but after getting home from the pub, I am now in trouble with the wife.
Hope to chat more later........

DAME stands for defense aginst methods of entry. This is a class Harry Shear
teaches at ALOA. The DAMES tools are by-pass tools sold by Ken Pearson at
Peterson Tools

To be honest with you, the money could be spent in much better ways, now I do have the picks from that kit and the stainless is much nicer then the standard peterson, but thats about it. I tend to agree with the others that point out that the Tri-Fold set is more then enough.

My peterson tri fold set is by far my favorite standard pick set. I have tried just about all of the more common pick types/brands including falle safe. It all comes down to personal comfort/preference.

Hello,
That pickset doesn`t look so special at all. The picks look like the ones in the HPC 200 series. If you would really want to buy a special set if would recommend the Falle pickset. I know that its a little bit expensive, but it`s the best pickset that I know of.
