my first picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

In the second picture, what kind of handle is that? I can see that it's wrapped in tape, but what kind of handle is under the tape?

The heads on these picks are really very good. Excellent work. I'll be looking forward to your other picks.

Thanks for the comments, and that handle is made of wood, there are wooden stick that is splitted in middle and the pick is inside those two parts and then it is taped tightly. It is very firm handle.

I made those from unused street bristles. And little polish with 600 paper.

That's really good crafstmanship for your first picks. It took me about 5 street sweeper bristles before I perfected my method. Im a little cautious with tempering them though.

I have tempered mine. The metal comes more harder tougher and less springy.

I will have to give it a shot then. I just was not sure if it would make the metal brittle or not.

Geez guy - good work! What's your day job? I've been messing around with this for years and all my efforts STILL come out looking like crapola -it's actually cheaper in terms of time for me to buy them...

Thanks. Actually i have a degree on metal and machinery but i think that anyone can make these picks if you just spend more time on that, and use file to take little pieces of metal at the time.

You have there a pretty hard pick. HSS steel is quite hard to work on with just file's :D
