If I could only have one pick...

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

If I could only have one pick...

Postby cracksman » 26 Jun 2005 22:08

I'm new to picking and have found that my favorite pick keeps changing. I have now settled on my "best" pick, (at least for now) and was wondering what you guys had for yours.

Mine is the Peterson "Reach" with the good old blue handle (for $2.30 plus shipping)

p.s. I know different locks call for different picks, for arguments sake let's say we are picking a 5 pin tumbler with anything smaller than a Kwickpick keyway. To make it more interesting, you are stranded on an island, the only food and water are neatly locked in a steel case with this lock on it

Oh, can't forget the wrench, I cut down a Southord. From the back, 45 degree angle, to the end is only 3.5 mm. It fits in the top of all keyholes I've tried (accept an Abus Discus 24/70  ) but thats another matter.

Just like to hear your thoughts (Oh, and if it's homemade please leave a pic) my imagination isn't what it used to be

p.p.s No rakes!!! I know, but hey, your on a deserted island, whats your rush?

Well, in that set of circumstances, I'd want the rotary pick, obviously.

Well, the rush is that all my food and water is in a steel container and I am thirsty and hungry.

I always have Raimundos bogotas with me. They are small. Easily portable. They pin to my clothes. I forget their even there sometimes. I never leave home without them. I know you said no rakes but they are the only logical choice for me. That's my choice , and I'm sticking to it.

O.K. a few things I forgot to mention:

1. When you washed up on the island the saltwater ruined any of your electric stuff.
2. Even if the saltwater hadn't ruined your stuff, it's always very cloudy on this island. So sorry, no solar panel PiP
3. I forgot to tell you about the evil flying monkeys, They like shiny wavy things (rakes for example) and will steal them from you before you have a chance to say- "OMG a crazy evil flying monkey is stealing my....)

This post never had a chance did it?

A few more things you forgot to mention (obviously), sharks have eaten off both our arms, sunburn has gotten to the third degree (strange, with no sun... ) and the lock is in fact a drill resistant bi-lock with sidebars and a 14 pin combination.....

Come on.... you just want us dead, don't you?

I love rakes. But in the spirit of the question the Southord small diamond. (Narrow version for European locks) It might be a european chest

And....If I'm stuck I can always rake with a half diamond! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
