Ideas while waiting for my picks...

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I find myself using the Progressive Curves myself.

These seem like they would work pretty much like the usual hooks that come in a set. The rounded tip might make them better for scrubbing or waffer locks though. I can't really say. Which do you find getting used the most? I'll have to make a couple... and now that I look at the templates, the first two groups (of three picks) there look awfully similar. Which are the progressives?

I would have said #3, but lately I've been pinning my locks to ridiculous non-MACS pinnings, so I've been using the 5/6 a lot to get under a deep cut and lift the shallow one behind it.

Bottom line is, the Falle tools work from the "A hook for any occation" idea, so the best hook to use is the one that's best for the lock you're working on. Tight keyways sometimes need a shallower hook, though if it's high/low pinned, you might be better off with a thin curve. (Don't bother trying to make one of those with a hacksaw blade.. it just ain't gonna happen).

I've gotten pretty good at figuring out pretty quickly which hook to use. It's a practice thing though.
