Hey,

Reading through this thread, is it just me or are you all misunderstanding eachother?

I believe that Jason13 is saying that the OP's Dino picks are a copy of SouthOrds, not the infamous Bogota rake. I may be far off on this assumption, it just seems like a likely mistake.

pip, they're saying that the posted photo is almost exactly the same as a SouthOrd long rake. Nothing about the Bogotas.

I think the bogotas do resemble the south ord picks but rather two of the rakes in one design, the OP's pic doesnt look like the So one as its a lot shorter with less peaks and has been made from a hacksaw blade.

All picks do pretty much look the same as each other as thats jus hoew picks are, they need to conform to all the same sizes and are used the same way its finish and accuracy that defines a good pick from a bad pick however and a hand made pick will pretty much always out class a commercial one where standard picks are concerned.

Jason, if a lock has all equal length bottom pins you dont need o pick it, you just insert anything that will lift all the pins up together ie a tension wrench in the keyway will open the lock.

Thanks for the Input.

I can't learn to pick pin by pin yet because I ust bought a few knobs and a few cores monday off of Ebay. They will be here Friday. I didn't want to start pin by pin until I can use 1 pin at a time and gradually move up. Normall if I don't excel at something right away I get frustrated so I have just played around a little. I will pick pin by pin once I get my lock cores.

That sounds like a good plan. I completely understand your enjoyment in raking locks because it provides quick saitisfaction which is often essential to the new coming lockpicker. I wish you the best of luck in your pin by pin practice.

I just saw that, I'm Sorry, like pip I mistook Jason's comment as blasphemy against the bogota. I guess there shall be no violence in the forseeable future then

I read the post of some guy raking a medeco in ten seconds. Personally i never had the pleasure of tryign to pick one.. a little expensive for me now , but i went to there website and the scimatics(pardon the harrible spelling) of the actually bi axle seems that this would be next to impossible.. i mean anyhting possible, but i mean the ods if it is true would have to really be one in a million. I also had a thought for rake for the medecos, by making an L-rake with deep valleys, and rounded tops, the bendind them from side to side, i have no idea if this would work i am going to give it a shot once i buy a new dremel.. my generic one took a nose dive, but just for feedback sake.. anyone think this is possible, if not to completely pick the lock but to get some pins set? anyway i will post a picture when its done. Don't assume when you really have no idea.

Can you rake a Medeco biaxial? Yes, if you master the pick angling technique.

Can you rake a BiLock? Yes.

Can you rake high low combinations? Yes

There is so much a rake can do, that single picking may not be able to. Maybe some research before making it up as you go along may help? I'm not saying that raking is how we should pick locks, far from it. I'm saying that you have no idea what raking can do and you should not make up crap.

i agree, i had this really hard weslock that i after using a half-diamon and a hook.. i could feel all the pins up, but something wasn't working right.

stick in my bogota pick (pointed end tip up) and pressed the back pin while lifting up and BAM.

opened immedietly. locked it again, just using the bogota pick opened it in around 10 seconds.

weslock isn't too cheap a brand is it?
