if your going to make picks hacksaw blades are highly recommended

on some locks if the keyway isnt so big wiperblades are ok depending on thickness.

i seem to mess up when it comes to tempering it. i follow pyro's video and after i dunk it forget about it its like a patato chip.

if you have a cutting wheel then that takes of some of the metal without making it all wick and bendy

cutting wheel for any type of dremmel and make sure you dont hurt you self thats all you need

to late my hands look like i have been fighting with an ally cat. my picks are not bad rakes are my tough ones. but bending any thing or geting fancy i mess up bad.

Why not go to lockpicks.com and inquire about some Rytan picks? They are also really good and much cheaper that Falle's which are nice well -made picks but higher priced than hobbyists should pay unless you have the coin to splurge.

can someone please tell me what is with home brew picks, i mean, i think it is waaaay too much work to make homemade picks, i would rather spend the 20-40 dollars and have a good set.

i can see the whole, made from scratch thing that opens locks, but man, i guess i am just not that dedicated, it is easier to buy them i think

It take 5 mins to make 1 simple hook pick.

15-20 mins and u coudl make a pickset if you tryed.

Yes so people just buy picks but getting hacksaw blades for £1 and a bench grinder for £30 is pretty decent would get you some nice picks

Although when I first started out making picks, mine looked just like anyone else's that just started out making picks... but I'll tell ya, the picks I make today are far better than a cheap set of SouthOrds. They do take a lot of work to make, but I enjoy it. In fact, it might be just about half the fun of this hobby. As well, there is a sense of satisfaction that comes from homemade picks. They're beautiful, you can make them any shape you like, you get the joy of working with your hands, and... did I mention they're beautiful?

i admit i was very frustrated that day and i was concerned that my cheap picks or if my homemade ones where holding me back and how would i be sure. so i bought the petersons. i still have the bug even with the petersons and my other ones i am still grinding away right now i am carving one of the hacksaw blades into a feather with a hook. i think it looks realy cool. making them is half the fun.

Perosnally i would only buy th tensioners and that all.. the other picks re just hooks, plus you could jsut get a buddy with a water jet to make them for you i was offered alrready in here.. the tensioners are indeed godly.. i would deff say over priced.

Sorry about the double post in a row, I know this causes some of you to instantly think of ducks on a shooting line and you want to mow'em down.

Varjeal - I went to the site and looked, but I did not see Rytan picks on there. Is it something I have to ask for? You did say inquire so should I email or call them?
