Peterson G-4 Elite Government Steel Set

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I believe you can still order the "just picks" set from the Peterson web site.

nope they went weeks ago, then lockpicks.com stopped selling the plastic set and 2day they stopped selling the assorted handles just picks set.

http://www.peterson-international.com/picksets.htm they only do the slender handles.

If you go to Ken's webiste or have a chat to him you can order individual picks and make up a set all of your own.

I'm going to have hours of fun playing with my new kit.
here is a link to the kit at Peterson's site.

http://www.peterson-international.com/p ... led.htm#G4

Just look at it, so many toys! i'm so excited about this i had to tell everyone. i'll give you a full review of the entire kit when it comes. I deal with alot of adams rite flick bolts on stores so this should be a very in depth review of the bypass items also.

I just got my G4 set two weeks ago. The case is AMAZING. I spend a lot of my free time just gently carressing its smooth surface. The way it folds up, its pure genius. The rubber handles blow my mind. No more calluses from picking with crappy HPC's all day long. I havn't been in a situation where I was able to put the bypass tools to use yet.

Be prepared to wait... Peterson aren't the fastest shippers in the world.

+1
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

One last comment... The UBendIt thing is really the only issue I had with the set. Maybe its because I have a really short temper, but I broke probably half of the things before I even got 1 to my satisfaction. Go very very slow. It suggest a "second tool" in the instructions, such as pliers, but I found it much muche easier to use a bench vice, and go slow, when applying twists. With pliers I just broke them.

i will heat it up before i bend it. and you cannot bend it with a sharp V bend it has to be a U bend.

Why would you want a V bend?

It comes with a U shaped tool, so it would be pretty hard to put a V bend into them. lol

This is a nice thread, I've been thinkin about a set of Peterson's myself. What do you guys make of the differences between the plastic and the rubber handles [ie: responsiveness etc.]?

I have their Professional II Set with blue plastic handled picks and when working under pressure, their stamped-in / moulded pattern gives me a better grip than my stainless Southord set, which is harder to handle when you start to sweat under pressure.

I also have big hands and find the handles easier to hold than a typical stainless steel pick.

My set was like $90-100 so unless you really need all the bypass tools and stuff like that, I don't see a need to drop $400. (but it sure would be nice to have =) The only additional thing I got for the set was a red foam handle Slender Gem, and the double prong tension set. Great investment! The leather bi-fold case is so nice!
