the "W" pick

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I might be doing something wrong. I try to use it like I would a hook but when I try to lift the pins it slips off. Now don't try and tell me how to use it, the hook works fine for me and is my favorite pick. And besides, what is life without a little hate from time to time?

bogota rake

Postby raimundo » 24 Apr 2004 8:25

the idea is to move the rake very quickly under the pins, with the points up, the pins are raised over the points and dropped off into the wide valleys, and thus have a place where there is little obstruction to them finding their own place. I doubt that commercial bogota rakes work well because of the finish, they should be sanded very smooth. wrap a piece of 400 grit 3m wet or dri sandpaper around a wooden chopstick and and use this to get rid of all that rough edge, and round out the square edges to make this pick really move with little friction.
To see what is happening, take the core out of a cylinder, and move and manouver the pic in the keyway of this core and watch those bottom pins dance around and flirt with the shear line. it dosen't seem to matter what the pinning is.
