Tension tool woes...

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I've been using a filed down nail as a tension tool for a while too maldotcom2. Laughed a lot when I read that, thought no one else would have tried it... Surprisingly works very well. You don't get a real good 'feel' for the lock, but it works none the less.

I made it out of arc welding rods, just smash off the special welding powder stuff and grind it down and bend it without any heat I havent needed a new tension tool for AGES!

I once took a photo of my tension tools:

yep, they are loads - most made of the spring in windscreen wipers. Some from streetsweeper bristle, some from allen wrenches.
Short and long blades, short and long handles some made specially for one kind of lock (I carry arond some windscreen wiper blades for that purpose).

The small thing with the rubber band is a mini-flipper - works and is dead cheap ;)

Cheers,

reg

I'm going to make a faux falle double sided adjustable at a max by friday. Hopefully start tonight, but I've got a day planned with the lady so.. Two peices wide carbon steel - I can get that at michaels and a bolt to cut with a 'fancy' nut closed top to secure. Super duper glue gel for keeping that bolt onto the bottom peice, or maybe JB Weld if I can find it. Should work out pretty well, got a design for it right here.
