What kind of materials should I use to make picks?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

theres a hobbyshop near my place that sells 1/16x1inch brass strip for making various things, would it work, or is brass too soft, i think one advantage of soft metal is it is less likely to damage the pins. i may be able to get aluminum, all metals avaialble are polished and completely smooth

Thanks, I hadn't found that one yet. From a handfull of post I've gathered that anything that fits the keyway in question can work..... however .028 at the wide end and .020 at the skinny end seems normal. YMMV and all that.............. I'll see about finding some SS gauge stock to work with, and possibly just start with a couple of hacksaw blades since they're everywhere.
