Willl post pick templates if needed.

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Exodus5000 wrote:I uploaded 3 templates i made of some picks - short hook, small half diamond, and snake rake all in the file "picks.ace". They're a printable kind and proportionally correct. These picks are best made with spring steel flat plumbing snake, as the template width is the exact width of the spring steel - which is 1/4 an inch. Have a look, or delete them if you think they suck. If anyone likes the format let me know and i'll make more. (good idea zeke)

Thanks Exodus5000. That is what the site is intended for is a collection of templates and scaled pictures for everyone here to use. If anyone has problems connecting to the site please contact me with the following info

Changed picks.ace into a zip file. picks.ace can be deleted now that the zipped version is uploaded. If you guys like the templates i made i can make more. The way i use them is i print them out, tape them to my spring steel snake and grind/file to it's outline. Maybe theres a better way to use'em. Enjoy.

Glue the template to the steel. Use a plain glue stick on the paper only.
Wait for the glue and paper to dry.

Use a high contrast paint that will stick to the steel. Grey, white and red primer work excellently. Remove paper, and grind until there is no paint left.

Have an uncut template sheet to compare with the pick you are grinding. I find printing them on transparency allows you to either hold the new pick over the template, or hold the template over the pick and see through the sheet.

All printing should be done with a laser printer, or a photocopier to avoid running the ink. Especially if you use a transparency.

mbell,

We have been having some severe storms in my area so my server has been down due to power failure at least once a day this week. Sorry about the slow download speeds but if I dont cap them then I end up with no bandwidth for myself and thats not what I pay for every month. The peterson file is around 72 mb so it will take a little while. I have done a few tweaks to the server and you should be able to get double the speeds you were before. Up to 40KB per second. :D

Everyone,

Due to the enormous amount of scans and logins I am receiving I am going to setup a username and passoword for this site. I hate to do this but I am getting dozens of scans on port 0 and 21 and way too many anonymous logins. This should help increase download speeds even further. If you can no longer access the site anonymously you will be able to access it at ftp://lockpicking:101@nickz.homeftp.net . Once again sorry about the change.

Getting into the server

Postby Romstar » 30 May 2004 15:44

Hey Zeke,

I simply can't get access to the server no matter what I try.

I've tried your new username pass, and it fails to establish a connection. Also, my FTP cliet won't let it get a connection either.

Not sure what's going on, but I wanted to see if there was someting going on at your end.

No shame in using photobucket.com. Most people in the wired Internet world still have a dial-up connection.

zeke, thanks for listing the HPC Regal set. Little beauties. Never thought of going shorter in pick design.

Are you guys still able to access my ftp site. I have switched firewalls and I can access everything from inside my network but have not had a chance to test outside the network. Could someone please download one of the larger zipped template folders and check to see if there is any drastic loss of speed during the download. Thanks in advance. :)
