When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Count me in. Even if I lose to be in a pick comp with both kaotik and LN would be an honor.
Guess I need to brainstorm now......

Heck I'll jump in and offer a pick with no defined shape and very little imagination, it's the best I can do. Someone has to come in last.

lol.. we should have little bogus titles too. just like funny awards just to have fun. not to win anything, just something to maybe put in your sig. like "Best handicap pick" or something bonehead. that way i might get some recognition out of this

DEFCON is when our next issue is released, and to get something of this scale right, we likely can't make it in time, so it won't be in the Mag until our Dutch Open release in November.
That said? I have no idea how long it takes to make a pick. Well, I have some idea, but I don't make them myself. I will abstain from setting a schedule, at least until people chime in with how much time they'll need to produce their best piece.
And, as I said, we won't be able to do this story justice until the Dutch Open issue (which will be nice, as folks take a good, hard, serious look at different pick designs at that event, as anyone who has carried Rai's Bogotas into battle can attest) so don't worry about our publication date as far as a deadline is concerned.

btw - I misspoke. We're putting out an issue for HOPE & DC, but still, the timeline is too tight. But in case anyone was worried, there WILL be a HOPE issue.

Well, with ratyoke making the cool anodized handles, and Kaotic in, and various other pickmakers doing some really good work, I suppose Jaako could do some scrimshaw or gold plating on his, and what would JK do, make a jeweled case for the medecoder?
Very many of the really good pieces are art. would these be autioned as individual pieces? or would the whole bunch of them be together as a sort of museum display. I think it would be very encouraging to have a display of all of them on the site permanently, since this is the internet, the display would be photographic of course,
LN is right, the pickmaking is really getting good around here, people are putting a lot into making them.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

well the design i got will take about to weeks to complete. so if we have a few weeks to work on our picks then we know that it will be given 100% and it will be our best work to date.
what do you think?

Haha, thanks for the laughs raimundo I don't I'll be taking any part in this competition, as my only picks are made of hacksaw blades and disc detainer tools are not in the realms of this competition if I read correctly...

LN21, you never mentioned size...
I vote Steve0527 for the win because of this pick.
But sure, I'm game for a little competition, and with two days of the holidays left, I'm gonna squeeze as much as I can...
This is gonna be fun, but I have one question; If these are all going to be sold as one big collection, does that mean that every competitor will have to mail their picks to one location, at their own expense?
Because it seems that if that were the case, then competitors would be paying to enter the competition...
Just my thoughts.

Most competitions you find there is an entry fee, why should this one be different? It is very cheap to send 1 lockpick to anywhere in the world. Trust me, I've been doing quite a bit of it lately.

If we did individual auctions of the picks with the sellers stipulation I think it would be more fair.

I may or may not be in, depending on the deadline. If it's the end of the July, I don't know if I can do it. I already have one big deadline for the end of the month. Mid August or later would be nice.
What is the auction for? umm...who's Zeke.. ?
