So, I'll drop by and explain: The thing I'd done to my SO set is to round off the squared edges of the shafts, but the actual flags remain the same. While most dimples are fine with the picks as they are, I ended up rounding them when I got a Abus EC75. A tiny little fecker with a keyway to match. The Azbe show by fg looks to me like a similar example.
I also have an Abus EC75, and I agree; they are unpickable with the square picks out of the box. That would be the only reason I would consider sanding them down. I tried for a few minutes and gave up in frustration. The warding is not very accepting of square shafted picks. I got shafted!
That is a good point, but I think I will leave mine be for now. I tend to screw things up when I try to tweak instruments to make them better suited for certain things. It is easy to remove too much and have a piece of "you-know-what" that used to work fine for 95% of the locks I was trying to pick. If I came across more Abus EC like locks, I might give it a go with the sander, but for now, I think I am ok.
I was able to consistently pick those Abus EC75's with my Peterson DCAP hook and a tensioner, so no need really right now.
Good point though MrAnybody, I am in complete agreement with your analysis!
