I Issue a Pick making Challenge!

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

People just have to be a little more patient and have some respect for the guy and the community. This is a hobby so honestly just find something else to do in the meanwhile, and like everyone above me already said you'll get to see the pics and the results as soon as they're ready to be presented. Take a minute to enjoy the holidays and spend sometime with your family instead of worrying about what happened to the lockpicks.

Wow, i new I would get flamed. First of all, I was joking, thats why I put in the lol and the sarcastic eye roll, to try and show that. Im sorry if i offended anyone. Second, we don't know these people like some of you do, so we dont know where he is or that he has been away, all we know is that he had not posted in a while. I used to check out this thread every day, because i was so impressed with the level of craftsmanship and time that has gone into them, and I just wanted to see the final results. Personally, im really looking forward to it!

you would see an update here if he's had the time to do it.

So far I still have high hopes of seeing the results sometime this year =)

I think shoe got a job as a gov't agent so everyone who entered please watch your pm's for the entry forms that we will have to fill out in triplicate and file with the uslphmpcef (for everyone not in the know that stands for the United States Lock Pick Home Made Pick Contest Entry Form) =P

Sound official enough for you...... (if you've never dealt with a gov't agency then you probably won't get the humor)

I've watched this thread since the beginning and have seen some great picks for entries. There is no excuse for this to go on this long. The people who spent the time to make the picks and send them to him have a right to at least a response on the results. He certainly has time to send (or have someone send) a message to give some info on when the results will be posted, or why they will not be posted.

Just my opinion, I don't have an entry.

Guys, I know first hand from experiences late last year and early this year that sometimes real life gets in the way. Schuyler is a very busy guy with many irons in the fire. Just be patient.

Well now that my picks have improved a great deal, maybe we should have another contest. :P

Let me please chime in here for a second again.

I have delt with Schuyler on MANY MANY occasions. He is a great person, and an honest person to boot. I and other vetern members will back that claim in a heart beat.

If your concerned, you can send him a PM or Email. For those on facebook you can communicate there as well, there is an LP101 group.

Again, Schuyler is a good guy, and everyone concerned should simply contact him.

Until they are posted I again can't wait to see the picks and winners. :)

Yo

Passing this contest off to Squelch and Scorche. They'll be getting the picks and the results of the Boston TOOOL judges. No clue if anything has been explained, but things went bad. I'm rebuilding. I'm not going to be around for a while. I literally haven't logged in here for several months now.

I still pick regularly, did a couple of lockouts last month, keeping up. I promise I won't be gone forever and I'm sorry that this came up in the middle of something really cool. I likely just shouldn't have jumped on it to begin with. The last mile is so simple here but I'm just gone. I'm sure the boys above will do a brilliant job bringing this to conclusion.

I miss all of you, you're like brothers (and the very rare sister) to me, but until I get my life right i can't take the distraction. If you'll let me have a get out of jail free card on this (those of you who do have an inkling can get a chuckle at that :P) I promise I'll be back, balanced and better someday.

Thank you, and I'm sorry I let it get to this point.

Oi - I just read through some of this thread.

You all are incredible. From the old standing behind me to the new respecting me despite not knowing me and I don't blame anyone for their frustrations. Again, I'm sorry I let it get to this point. I've never known anything like this community of people, never obsessed over something as I have lockpicking and never been so joyful as when I am talking locks. I will be back, I promise, these problems are just longstanding and need to be taken care of systematically. If I try to rush, if I try to jump back to what I was doing before it's just going to be a cycle I repeat forever.

You guys deserve a little more explanation, though. I don't want to go into all of the details right at this moment, but to be simple:

I have recently sought treatment for some non-physical ailments and am working on them. Though I was trying to get the ball rolling on that for some time the big catalyst was an arrest.

It was more a build up of debt, the lack of motivation to accomplish even small tasks and a long series of stupid decisions that led to it. I didn't hurt anyone, not even myself, and I was upfront with everyone I had to deal with, but I spent the day in lockup. (and yes, I paid very close attention to all the locks involved and 2 of the 5 times I was put in cuffs I wouldn't have had any trouble getting out of them. Seriously, I keep the lockpicking mindset with me all the time) I had to explain to my bosses and family and friends what had happened and what had been going on.

I defended myself in court and had one criminal charge dismissed, the other I was declared "not responsible" for and I was cleared of all civil infractions because they related to the latter charge. I thought that would be the end of the "bottom" and I would be back in action soon after, but as soon as that Damoclean sword was no longer above my head I started to backslide dramatically. So, I stopped drinking altogether for a while. (not why I was arrested, but just something I had been doing a lot of and for the wrong reasons) I'm feeling ok about it now, though.

I'm taking some medication at the moment. My hope is to not be on it forever, but I'm not rushing anything. All in all, I'm honestly very happy and optimistic and doing the right thing etc. etc. but I'm embarrassed and angry and though it's certainly given me some good stories to tell I am ashamed of how far out of control I let things go. I'm in serious debt, behind in personal and professional matters like crazy and desperate to just forget and live and spend and travel like I used to. But I can't do that.

So, I'm taking it slow and dodging distractions. I'm excited to get through this year. I'm sorry for constantly coming up short on the things I try to do here. From my last talk at DC to NDE to this contest to the locks I owe raccoon from YEARS ago - these things have been typical of my life, here and in the outside world. This is who I've always been. I've always been involved with people and projects deeply and passionately and when I am finally to be relied on, I flip a switch and completely spiral out of the equation.

I swear to God I am not looking to be built up, I'm not fishing for compliments. I'm trying to tell all of you what I have been and that I want to keep the good, the initial drive, the creativity, etc. but I need to be stable, be able to take on a responsibility without the thought of it keeping me from getting out of bed in the morning.

This was so much more than I intended to write here. I am going to disappear again for a while, but you all deserved a lot more from me than "It's been rough, these guys will take the ball from here." So there you go. There it is.

Again - sorry and thank you,

- Schuyler
