yeah, i appreciate that you're hosting it all yourself and have to set a limit and stuff, i think i speak for everyone on the forum when i say that it is great what you're doing and we all thank you for it!

i was just wondering why there were slower speeds, whether there were still some bugs to be worked out in the http, i know its a fairly recent change from the ftp, i was reading through, wondering why i couldnt get on the ftp, then i got to the end and found out why :oops:

doh!

anyway, thanks for hosting all the stuff, its an awesome resource! if there was anything i could do to help you out with it, i would but i dont really know anything that would help, lol

Well, if the speed issues do not clear up then I can always go back to ftp. I pretty sure that it is server load though. If anyone would like to participate you can post your download speeds and we can try to get an idea of the average speeds. Once we have a good amount of data we can try and decide whether to go back to ftp or not.

i've had some good speeds, like 110kb/s for about 1 or 2 secs at the start, then it drops to around 9 or less. i never used to ftp, but the http is a good resource nontheless and people shouldn't have so much to complain about when they try to connect to it!

my pc is 500mhz processor, its practically an antique, but its got a 300k broadband connection, soon to be 512 if i can ever get it running! i got pretty much all the files off the site yesterday, i may be able to set up some way to trying to send you them if it will make things easier.

if anyone in the UK is having trouble, i could get all of the files up to date and burn them to cd and post it if they would send me a blank cd or cover the cost of them.

I actually down loaded most stuff when it was on ftp so have it already and any more isnt actually as bad as all that.

But im sure there will be some takers.

yeah, i know how annoying it is to not be able to see something everone else is talking about and saying how good it is, and although my processor is about dead, the harddrive and net connection will swallow pretty much anything, so i dont mind putting them on cd for people as long as i dont end up paying for it :wink:

i've got all the files i can from the http zeke, one of them said it couldnt find the file, not sure which though, i think it was about halfway down page 2, anyway, together they all add up to around 300mb, if anyone wants to add to this, i'll add in any instructions i've got for pickmaking and make some text files so its almost a "how to make picks" file and when it gets to nearer 700mb i'll put them on cd and people can have them as long as they pay postage and the cost of the cd :wink:

if this is allowed, once its sorted, one of the mods could make it into a sticky or something so that people know about it, once i've got the contents of the cd sorted of course.

I think the link problem you were receiving is fixed now so you should be able to get whatever it was. I was thinking that there was already around 500mb of material on the site but maybe i need to check again and see if I missed something.

i downloaded everything on the 2 pages except for that one file like i said, unless its a good 200mb, its a lot less that 500 in total, i'll check again though and download that other file.

have you downloaded the videos also? Pyros video and the safecracking video make up almost 100mb if I recall correctly.

aaahh, good idea, i'd forgotten about the videos, i've never watched them since my pc is so old and dying it wont play them :lol:

if someone could maybe help by writing up a few text files on how to make picks it would be great! you can email them to me or add me to msn and send them or whatever!

what would be the best format to make the text files in, i was thinking notepad for compatibility across different OS's? any better suggestions?

The size total I came up with was 577mb. That is the info files, videos, and pick templates/pictures. As far as the text file format we should use atlease word pad as it offers some formatting options.

its 11:20pm here and the broadband is scheduled to be disconnected tomorrow, so i'll download everything i can now and hopefully get the new connection sorted asap, but if im not around for a little while, thats why. i'll try and work on getting some text files sorted in that time.

i was thinking notepad because i know at least a few people on lp101 use things other than windows, like Linux, Mac, all sorts of things, if wordpad files will open on these im happy to sue it, failing that i can do it all in word or something then change the file type for each individual cd.
