When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

It's a rubber... or an eraser as yuo may know it.
You push all the wires through the rubber, essentialy you now have a very McGuyver tubular pick. You can push each wire to a different depth, and because they are wedged tight they will stay in position.
All the posts regarding such a methord have been deleted in the past - it can be used on another kind of tubular lock, one that is deemed advanced.

Alright this is for you Illusion. Here is the paperclip shim working. I even made it look pretty so other people could copy it easily and make it themselves and see how it works. You shouldn't have you mind set on just store bought tools, or things that need electricity to make.

There you go. Hope you guys enjoy. I still want to demonstrate one more but I am waiting for the go ahead.

Hahaha...
I really like this thread, we should link to it any time someone asks how to make picks.

i was able to open almost all american combination locks that have this flaw in design in them, but double locking padlocks seem to be a bit of a problem. Let me rephrase that, alot of single locking padlocks, not too many double locking. They provide much more of a challenge. The shim doesnt break though, just wont go in at all, and because i didnt smooth it out to much it allows friction to happen. If i smothed it out and polished it it would work much nicer, but polishing a paperclip seems a little silly to me. haha.

I own this same padlock and mine is very stiff to turn even with the key. Is yours the same?
Yeah it is pretty stiff. I cant watch the video right now, but you can see that i had to use alot of force, especially with the size of the tension rod i was using. hahah. It is what i could find at the time.
