how do you guys carry your picks?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

true, although i suspect that the cia tube is a bit smaller.... and hopefully more water tight, the cigar tube is just a friction fit.

Cases

Postby redravensc1 » 23 May 2007 22:26

Well, you all got me on this. I happening to use a laptop carrying case and store all my tools in that. I have a small leather case that holds business cards and the pockets are about the right depth.

The white sheets (contents.jpg) are mica plastic used for shimming.
I needed something that held everything in one place in my toolbox/van. My idea has caught on - the 2nd year apprentice is using one now. 8)

Contents opened.jpg (in clockwise order)
1.Majestic 'Life Lockaid' Pickgun in Dino Holster w/ tension tool.
2.HPC Leather case - 2 Hooks, 1 each Diamond, rake and double ball. 1 Bogota set and (to date) 6 tension tools :)
3.HPC Leather case - Extra picks, tension tools and extractor tools
4.HPC Plug Spinner

Sorry it's blurry. My phone's 2 megapixel camera just doesn't cut it :(

Mine are simply in the leather case they came in.

As I'm just a hobbiest, they're in a drawer in my shed. If I ever went into the business, I'd probably just keep the leather case in a toolbox along with all the other picks/bypass tools, then select what I needed at the door.

My Southord tools mostly live in a gaffer-tape case, but my favourites are in the small flat leather case the set came in. (They don't all fit since I double-heatshrunk the handles.)

The leather case is pocket-sized when it needs to be, the clasp is tough enough to travel in bags. I've considered a mini tool roll, but the fact is, the case I have does a pretty decent job.

My next expansions will involve a tri-fold case, for picks with proper handles. Sneaky little containers are very neat, but since I'm not a pro lockie, I like to be open about what I'm carrying.

To update my previous post, I still use the leather desk set to carry my larger items (plug spinner, snap gun, etc.) but I'm using the case from an old military sewing kit for my picks and tension wrenches now.

I am using an Army Surgical kit. I Paid $12. When I went to buy it, they just got them in stock, not even out of the box yet.
