When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.
Bogotas (by none other then Raimundo himself)
Southord Slimline medium hook (the larger of the two that comes in the 9 peice slimline set)
Southord Slimline S rake
Southord Twistflex tension wrench
******
This has 2 rakes for a quick false set on locks with security pins or quickly opens a ton of locks without security pins (and single sided wafer)
3 possible tension wrenches (the bogotas are good for two and twist gives great feedback)
I use the half diamond bogota as the equivalent of a short hook, and the medium hook for single pin picking.
Toss in a paper clip to that set and I can open everything from the cheap master locks to the high security Brinks and American padlocks.
Locks... just little puzzle boxes waiting to be solved.

Alright, so after getting more experienced, I have figured out which tools I like the most:
Short hook/Bogota Jiggler combo
Ball/Half Ball combo
Modified Diamond/Small Diamond combo
A tapered tension wrench, double ended, one end parallel with handle, one end perpendicular. Gives you a couple different angles to apply tension from.
The short hook and Bogota seem to open up just about any common pin tumber lock I come across. The ball picks work pretty good on wafer locks and certain padlocks. Diamonds, meh, I don't use them quite as much.
1. Short hook
2. S rake (looks like double half diamond)
3. Short hook
4. Twist flex tension wrench
5. Have I said short hook
Short hooks obviously for almost any lock, you can never have too many
. S rake for kwiksets and darn near every pad lock door lock in the U.S. Twist flex for good plug feedback.
