When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

lovely picks, man!

Mine arrived moments ago. SADLY - I completely forgot to bring my picks into work today, so no tension wrench atm to try them out with, but they are gorgeous and I am stoked to crack something open with them soon.
Might even go wandering around for a street sweeper bristle...

Found a tension wrench in the trunk of my car! Popped my first with a combo of the deforest & king. Yale 6 pin mortice cylinder. They handle pretty nicely. Been waiting for a year and a half to own a king and queen (grumble grumble @ banned member of this forum) and am finding it a bit hard to get the feel of them, using them as profile picks, but am making progress and very happy with the purchase.

Now you can see why I neurotically PM'ed you about them. The king and queen rake are supposedly 100% effective on KW key biting, 20% of the time with just a lift. So a perfect pick is still at best 20% effectivly used as intended, and you need the open keyway of a Kwickset to lift them effectively. I am sure Mr. EZpicking explained it before. They are neat, and when you find a keybiting in the 20% they work great with practically no effort. I found the small queen good for alot of Schlage. Easy to set high pins in the front and spp from the back. The king is the one with the learning curve. Also the coolest shape. Ramble... Anyway I'm thrilled to hear you like them. Keep me posted.
Ialma, thank you, and the rake tines was a neat idea. Found some blue aluminum ones that look pretty cool.

worth mentioning:
Just popped a lock I've never been able to crack before, in about 30 seconds, with tooly's tools.
I have had similar experiences with Rai and LN's picks respectively. It seems like each time a new interpretation of high quality homebrew picks comes into my collection, more of my lock collection falls. Pretty stoked.

Hehe. I know that I need to own one of yours, man, it's a hell of a piece, but right now I'm spending on stuff that will help me compete.
Though - as I said, you should talk to Han and make a disc-detainer competition for Sneek!

Hello again. I know I havn't been OCD posting for a couple days, but I'm still mad no one wanted to guess that Bogota. Don't feel like you need the bonus points? I'm bored people, humour me. Ok, so from now on one picture and then the rest are links if you care to see.
I've been trying new things, keeping it fresh. Gotta think up something neat for the challenge. Here's a small set I made for myself.
When I first started making picks I couldn't make a half diamond to save my life. Kept making them with tips the size of peanuts, or whittling them down to nothing. The only success I had was a double diamond I had to make due with.
Tip Angle
Straight on
I don't think I'll find much use for the bottom one, but don't they look nifty next to each other?
Well, that's it for today. Peace.

pink heat shrink looks a bit loose on them, how's it holding?
Also - you still owe me an OCD pm I'm enjoying our far-too-verbose conversation.
I think I see what you're doing there with the K&Q.
Also - as far as a guess goes, I was going to have one, until I read that the colors meant something...now I'm feeling oblivious...

The heat shrink is fine, I had to put it farther out to cover the small scuffs I couldn't get to properly because of the twist after the undercuts. Besides I glue it on right before I shrink it. You'll get your OCD pm and then some. I couldn't find the energy to retype it after the WHOLE THING got deleted on me yesterday. Should have learned my lesson. Notepad backup for the long messages. There is no king/queen, these were an accident of sorts that turned out happily. Except the "King" pops locks like crazy and so far I can't get the "queen" to open a bag of chips. The colors on the band of a familiar lock brand? The picture of the Bogota on the key is practically the answer jumping off the screen! I'm smashing this all together to save space, not because I have no respect for grammar.

I suppose I could have used and actual band for the handle in addition to the larger than life M1 on the key...

The twist? Yeah, it can help ring some feedback through the handle.
