I made a LOT more picks, including an electric pick gun, two snap picks, and a new pick case. I'll post picks, explanations, and a new template that will prove a lot more convenient for all of you tomorrow (the template includes the elusive warded pick templates that I've been PMed about).

Thanks for that power point template thiing it has realy helped me out in my pick making.

I was wondering, i usually use hacksaw blades for my picks, would this weaken the structure in any way?

I'd like any feedback on this thanks.

it depends on the hacksaw blade type, HSS is the best in my opinion for pick ( it wont brake unless bent at 90 degrees)

but if you are careful any hacksaw will do.

Here's the new(er) template. I've been having problems with powerpoint, but I'll have a more complete one as soon as I get my images reorganized.

If you don't have powerpoint, a pdf file is coming soon.

Here is the new case for my pick set:

It's not finished, but you get the general idea.

Here are the two snap guns I'm working on:

The first is from a coat hanger, the second is from a wiper blade. Both still need to be filed down.

I've also been working on an electric pick gun made from a waterpik. Here's a picture of it with the unattached needle.

So far, it's way too weak to knock any pins up, I'm not sure if it's the strength of the waterpik, or the fact that I'm using a sewing needle. I'll play around with it for a while, if it works I'll post a tutorial. If not, now you know what not to do with your waterpik...

That's my thrown together, half-baked update. I'll be a bit more comprehensive once I finish these sets, it's just that right now I've got a ton of different projects going on. Any questions, comments, critiques, leave them here or PM me.

Not too bad, what did you use to make your case?

thats my case, i love it, i used corderoy for a nice soft inside and cordura stuff for the out side

I just used a piece of generic black fabric, I was going to use duck cloth but it was too thick to sew. I'll wind up making a more aesthetically pleasing case at some point in the future, I'm sure. I just wanted this one to keep all of my pen picks separated for easy selection. Who knows, this one may even look presentable once it's finished...

One important thing I forgot, the other side of that pick case should be filled with the tension tools I made, hence the two penknifes I have stored. One of the penknifes is extremely light and I found that attaching shortened tension wrenches to it provides more comfort and feedback than just the wrenches themselves. I have to find them, though, they're under some pile of papers I have lying around.

Ok, new project.

These are just 3 units, I have about 30 more that are unfinished (66 unique pick heads in all). I'm probably going to keep them in a marker similar to the one in this thread.

I just bought the thinnest, most wonderful plumbing snake ever from the dollar store. 12ft for, you guessed it, one dollar. The stuff that I bought from Sears (about 25ft for $6), was a little bit thicker than the Southord and Navigator picks that I own (those are all I have to go by), but this stuff is even thinner than the manufactured sets. It polishes up beautifully, and my powerpoint templates worked like I thought they would.

top to bottom: wavy hook/short hook pick, computer generated pick, deep curve pick
