Yeah, dude. It's sweet being able to make something you've always wanted to have. Also, once you get a machine and the needed parts, you can make a lot of stuff for relatively cheap, QUICKLY (well, the operation may not take too long but the setup can take weeks

! When you get good, though, it only takes a few hours to finish a project once you've started.) Of course there is a learning curve with G-Code. Sorry isn't going to fix a crashed lathe! If anyone is interested in pursuing something like this and needs help with the coding, modeling, etc. please let me know, I learn a lot from helping people with projects! Also, it is one of the few ways I can help others in the community with me being so far away.
