When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Cool, let's plan for August 31st to have all picks in hand here in Boston, and being that it's a Sunday, we might even be able to do the utility portion of the judging here, though maybe we shouldn't reveal the results until the end, so as not to skew the other two categories?

sorry for the double -

As far as revealing or keeping secret? I figure it's up to the pick maker, but it would make for a pretty cool collection of posts to see everyone's process, you know?

I also think it is a great idea, I knew my creation would be leaving the country so I dont mind where it goes.

If people did want to keep it a secret until all the entries are in, it would be really cool to put together a comprehensive "how to" of them at some point, I know I could use all the help I can get!

Looking forward to getting grindin' now :)

So - in case anyone is waiting to get started...I'd say "GO!" though I can't see any good reason to close off the entrant list. 13 picks committed already! This is going to be one HELL of a pick set. Keep the list rolling! And any pickers who want to start their own threads describing what they're planning to do / document the process - go for it and drop a link to it here.

Good luck everyone! And good job LN21, perfect timing to start this up again!

a good few weeks

well as for ideas this is mine, im going to make a pocket pickset but with only two picks (both hook picks) it will be around the same overall size (LxWxD) and will have the same clean professional look as my other picks i've posted, if it works out that is :)

umm yep thats all, nothing too special

hope it still qualifies for the competition?

Everyone should try to have them in the mail by august 18 especially if your overseas. No one would want to be out of the comp because customs lost them.

Just make it clear which 1 pick you want us to test in the picking part of the judging. It'll make our lives a lot easier if we only test 1 pick from each competitor, as I believe most will only be producing 1.

I think it's more of a fund-raiser coupled with a bit of fun than something to be "lost". However, if you'd like to bring competition in to it, if anyone will be "losing" it will be ME. :D

I was just thinking about how to make sure that after we send the entries in, they dont get all mixed up somehow.

Something that wont deface or somehow impede the utility of the work but would make it easy for the judges to record their opinions as the things are being shared around and evaluated?

Bit of string around the tang attached to a tag with a username written on it? With a loop this could be slipped off for judging and replaced afterwards.

Just a thought.
