Raimundo's Bogota "How to" documents

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I made a couple of Bogota style picks out of wiper blade today (street sweepers use Nylon bristles around here).

They turned out ok. Not as firm as Raimundo's Bogotas, but probably as close as you can get without sweeper bristle.

Anyone have other alternatives?

I almost wonder what you could fashion with the body of a normal tension wrench.

FWIW, titanium wouldn't be any use, as well as being four times the price at least.

Just got to say, here, that the Bogatas from Rai are superb. He and Varjeal got a big plug at the Shmoocon 2006 presentation by Deviant and Renderman.

Guard yours, they will go missing as fast as you like - I used them on every picking job I did for a few weeks, then realised I had lost both of them someplace... I find the three pin version to be best, and the single pin less effective. However, the single is still better than 90% of the other picks out there. The three pin opens locks better than you could hope.

The safety pin "holster," if you have it, really does help keep them... er, safe. Clip it to the bottom of your pocket and nothing's falling out.
