I was just thinking about how to make sure that after we send the entries in, they dont get all mixed up somehow.

Something that wont deface or somehow impede the utility of the work but would make it easy for the judges to record their opinions as the things are being shared around and evaluated?

Bit of string around the tang attached to a tag with a username written on it? With a loop this could be slipped off for judging and replaced afterwards.

Just a thought.

That's a good thought! We'll be cataloging everything as it comes in, but tagging them somehow will be better than having to re-reference the photos whenever we forget.

Heh, and personally, so long as everyone is taking it as lightly as it is intended, a little smack talk isn't such a bad thing ;)

I think everyone should do a different end so we dont all do a rake or a small hook. We should be assigned the ends by a mod or something like that. Because if we are going to sell this for charity, I think the buyer should get a good assortment. We should have a vote or something.

Mailing Address:

Schuyler Towne
ATTN: Pick Contest
186 Brookline Ave.
Boston, MA 02215

Be sure to include your LP101 user name and any details you want us to know about your pick when you send it in.

Steve - I understand where you're coming from, but I hope with 15 picks we'll naturally see a nice variety & I know that some people may be more proficient with one type of pick or another, so I would hate to see someone assigned something outside of their proficiency. However, those of you who are well-rounded, maybe declare what pick time you're interested in making and compare notes to be sure you're not overlapping?

It's a pick challenge therefore everyone should be able to enter whatever they want. Even if the set only has hooks in it the buyer will know they are getting some of the best homebrew picks available.

Precisely, and some won't know how to make a such-and-such rake, or what a such-and-such pick does.

Working on mine as we speak. I "copied" my Peterson handle via a mold, but it was all done by hand. Does this still count? And in related news, who has a CNC mill and can quote me a cost on making a small (i.e., handle-size) aluminum block mold if I supply the CAD file?

the way things are going for me recently it would be better to put me as a "maybe" on the list.

I've lost access to a MIG welder would is obviously vital for completion of the pick, but if i can get access by the end of this month or early next month then i may be able to send it in time.

but whatever happens i will post it on the homebrew thread
