one of a kind homemade jackknife with 14 picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Well i was at the swap meet today and i got a dremel for $15. There was also a bench grinder there for $20 that i wanted to get but decided to get the dremel instead because the grinder wheel was loose and i wasnt too sure about it. So i hope ill be able to make one of these cool picks.

Anyone know how to take the rivet out of the feeler gauge?

Do you have a picture or a link to the set that you have?

Not sure who you are talking to salzi684, but my set of feeler gauges didn't have rivet(s)-

As you can notice, there are only about 12 of them that are useful as homemade picks, but the thinner sizes could be used as padlock shims. That set is also very useful as you can use the 'steel case' in your tool, it already comes with a thumbscrew! 8)

It says Powerbuilt on the feeler gauge and i assume thats the manufacturer since its registered. Theres only 3 gauges that i can actually use for picks in it but what im gonna do is buy some real picks and then drill some holes in them and put them in the feeler gauge.

My first jackknife.....

Postby Morpheus0101 » 14 Apr 2004 9:58

Hi all this is my first post here though I have been lerking around for a few weeks. I just like to say what a great site this is with an abundance of information you just don't get elsewhere. I'm particularly impressed with the DIY'ers and after seeing what they have done felt inspired to have a go myself here are some pictures of my first attempt....

This is an old nailfile thing I got for christmas never used till now :D

Here are the parts, one hacksaw blade gave me five parts. After removing the blue paint I could get another one in...

As you can see it's pretty small 2.5 inch closed

The tension wrench was made with an alan key filed down and is held in place when the picks are down

Finished...I gotta say the snake pick on the right works surprisingly well it seams to open eveything.......
Thanks to everyone who's contributed to the site .........
