When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I tried downloading last night and I got some part of an 8meg file down then the server booted me and I couldn't connect again. Don't know why that happened.

Well, to be honest this ftp started out to be small means of sharing files with others. As it is now, i can barely access the internet at any given time throughout the day. It is not an uncommon sight to see upwards of 20 users at one time acessing the site. i host some other things on my site for other areas of interest so all of the activity is not from this site but several. I have done what I can to ensure that the site stays running and no one gets kicked off but sometimes it happens. At this point i would say it is only a matter of time before my isp contacts me about the amount of trafffic being "uploaded" to others and shuts me down completely. if anyone out there has any free solutions to this let me know. I am sorry if you have been booted off fo the site. the only advice I can give you is try again at a later time. I may end up splitting the load between 2 pc's which wont help the bandwidth issue but may help keeping users from being booted.

And one other thing. Please if you have problems please send me a pm and I will try the best I can to help you access the site. DO NOT send me a pm about how Sh!tty the site is or "why do you use ftp it sucks" or "this is riduculous, i can never access your site". If you contact me with an attitude like that I will more than likely tell you where to go. i will be more than happy to help users out by emailing the dial up template sets, etc. i will not however tolerate the above behavior in any way and will likely ban your ip permanately.
Ok I am done ranting for the day

If I can keep everything running around here, let me see if I can upgrade the storage capacity of my server and then maybe I can take some of the traffic off your hands.
I will need to put in another hard drive for the stuff, but after that the only thing I have to worry about is keeping the household afloat.
I'll keep you up to date.

I've been lerking around the forums for a few days now, i was taught picking from my uncle (his father was a locksmith), and am wishing to dab into it a bit more as i am finding it much more intresting now, then a few years ago...I've started to mirror some of the content @ http://phawked.us/locks -- still writing an interface, so i can credit everyone's work there, if you find something there that you made, and don't want me to distribute, let me know and i'll remove it promptly, i've optimized alot of the larger images, so they are alot smaller, (cropping an image that is 2/3's countertop, 1/3 of it is the actual pick) so everyone should be able to obtain them just fine, I got plenty of bandwidth and space, so i ain't worried about it being used up over some images...if you have something you want to add, pm me and i'll toss it up there...hope this helps someone out

I went to that website, and noticed a lot of images from Steven Hampton's "Modern High-Security Locks and how to open them." Isn't that against copyright laws?

what server software are you using?
most current programs allow settings to scan uploaded files as soon as they complete..
hit me on the flower if you want a hand setting it up.

Zeke79 - many thanks for letting us use this. There is truly a wealth of knowledge on there. I particualry like the ultimate lockpicking guide - very handy. Sorry to hear you've got trouble.

I am using guild ftp software. It is ok for free software but doesnt have alot of advanced features. The uploading I assume was done through proxies so I doubt i would ever be able to trace back to whomever it was. No real damage was done as by AV software caught it, I just wanted to be sure I was clean before i let anyone connect to me and download. Dont need to be passing around viri. Server is now back up and ready to go.
