"Improvement" on Peterson SFIC tools?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

"Improvement" on Peterson SFIC tools?

Postby bprzybyl » 14 Apr 2006 1:08

Hello,
I bought the Peterson SFIC tool set. I am still learning how to use them, but I'm getting better. I think pretty soon I'll make a board with SFIC's with increasing number of pins to get some practice on them, just as I did with db's method.

Anyway, I like the tools for all but one reason- they don't sit flat in the case. Though this may seem like a frivalous or stupid worry/want, I don't care. I got their Pry Bar tool, and really really like it (Highly Recommended). So I figured, why not do the same with the SFIC tools? Right now, I have them in their original baggie in the case, and I would rather have them lay flat. This way, If by some chance my picks get sat on, or anything else, They won't stick up and bend my picks.

The Idea is this - Have them be shaped like an L, very similar to the pry bar, and use them just the same. I think I may try to make some, as I still have some Ti sitting around from the earlier project. But I ask you guys, do you think it'd work? Would they function any differently this way? If not, then I might order a set from emachineshop or somewhere similar.

Thanks,
Brooks

The first set I learned on was an HPC wallet pick set. The tension wrenches that come with that set are what you're describing minus the SFIC part. They work fine, but expect twist flex style spongyness.
