Tension Cord Idea

I was reading Eric343's "Dual Tension Wrench" Idea and left a little feedback, but decided to start this topic up

Basically my idea is to place a small housing piece of rubber or some material that will provide grip and stretchability.
This housing piece will have a hole in the middle for something I decided to just call a rivet piece, which will expand and secure the housing piece sideways as to grasp only onto the plug.
Now, you can attach this cord a variety of ways, but I figured if you place a piece of line through the housing so that once the "Rivet" piece is placed it it secures the line along with it.

I made this Paint picture which is really sketchy, seeing as I came up with this idea like half an hour ago, but I hope this picture helps build some visualization.



So it's a pretty basic drawing and idea, The hardest part of this tension tool would be coming up with the supplies that worked well, just a little experimenting and i'm sure this will work nicely.
What do you guys think?

I like the theory, kind of like sticking a piece of rubber-band into the keyway, then inserting your wrench to get a nice, snug grip. My only concern is the idea of your "cord". If you are suggesting a line with a loop for your finger to provide tension, you may run into some problems. The common wrench is used like a fulcrum, allowing you to put a minimum of pressure to give a decent amount of torque. If you were to try and "pull" the keyway you would need a much greater force and your hand may shake and tire after a couple of minutes.

What if instead of your cord, you used a metal coil, like one that retracts a tape measure, and found a way to temporarily fix it to the lock?

-just a thought, I like your overall idea though, and I may be completely wrong abot the tension, or about my understanding of your design. I would like to see you build on that idea in any case

i tryed something like the first bit.... (without the rivet plug thingy which i dont see how works) i made it out of a 0.5 millemeter allen key it was made well but sometimes it took up the last pin space you need to make it about half the height of the keyway to get it to work well......

The idea of the rivet plug is to expand the rubber housing so it gets a stiff grip, and it wouldn't take up much space at all, the point of it is you can place it anywhere in the keyway so you can work around it, and the cord is to deal like door frames and places it's hard to use a tension wrench to avoid switching wrench sizes.

Instead of 'rivet' how about 'wedge'?

Take a look at those little yellow foam earplugs. The ones we had back in the army were compressable, you would roll them tight and insert them into the ear, then they would slowly expand. This might be too soft, but if you can get some it might be worth a try.

yeah I guess a wedge would be a better term, but I kinda got the idea thinking of riveting stuff, it's kinda the idea.
