Magnetized Picks?

I'm considering ways to secure/store picks. The idea of using a small neodymium magnet crossed my mind. The picks would become magnetized to some degree. Would that cause problems when using the tools?

i know neodymium (or rare-earth) magnets are quite strong,medium ones can hold somebodies hand to a fridge and hold bikes to a roof.If you do,use a small one,otherwise when you pull it off (hard) it could snap the picks.

Or you could just sew some elastic to a pouch,and use them to hold the picks.Look around the site for things to hold picks to.

Yeah, their strength for their size is the appeal. You're right that care is required with the more powerful magnets.

Being a newbie to picking, I'm wondering if magnetized picks would present any problems in actual use. Are pins, plugs, etc. magnetic?

Although already thinking creatively as a newbie.. i hate that word, just say Starter.

Anyway a nice velcro case is good especailly one witha belt loop.

I think the Navigator pickset from Brockage has both.. and a heck of a set for cheap.

Thats why he hates it. He's not a newbie anymore.

As for the magnets, you can get some great (and cheap) magnetic stip that do an adequate job of holding small tools such as picks, and will not magnetize your picks. Some higher end locks do use steel pins.

While I can't see that becoming a problem the possibility does exist no matter how remote. I just make leather cases for mine. Grab some leather, seach the web on how to sew leather by hand, or use a decent machine and make a small case.
