Commercially available simple lever wires

Hi all,

Does anybody know where I could buy a set of lever wires for picking non-curtain mortice locks (although I think they can be used for curtained locks also if your skillful enough!)? I'll probably get a 2 in 1 pick but I'd like to try basic wires first. I've looked everywhere but don't seem to be able to find anyone who sells them. I think locksmith-tools used to sell a set of 12 and 20 but they don't seem to anymore.

If I can't get any I'll try to make some of my own but its always nice to have professionally made tools if you can get them.

Make them out of wire. you will need to modify the ones you buy anyway. I get mine from Aldridge but you need to be a locksmith. go buy some strong piano wire, does the job nicely

Im with that but if your a lockie get on to SKS and gab a pack of Souber wires, i quite like them for wire picking and they arent dear, i suspect its the same set you have seen elsewhere,

Other than that as said go to your local model shop and make your own, each one needs to be cut and bent in either case,

Unfortunately I'm not a Lockie so Aldridge and SKS are both out of my reach. I had a look at SKS's online catalogue out of interest (aldridge don't really have one for picks etc.) and they are the same as the wires I'd seen.

I'll have to get some wire and try and make some for myself. Hopefully it won't be too tricky!

Try SKS they arent to fussy on who they sell un secure items to,

Alternitively somewhere like Devon locks may stock them or get them in, they will sell to anyone

Hooray! I've finally got hold of some lever wires.

I tried SKS but unfortunately they were adament that they would only sell to trade customers which is fair enough as that's their policy. I e-mailed devon locks but they said they were unable to supply anything that wasn't shown on their site. Both places were definitely worth trying though - if you don't ask you don't get

The company they came from in the end was Central Locksmiths and Joinery Services. I found them by accident whilst looking for something else.
