SouthOrd Europicks.

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

The rest of you folks who've been waiting for SouthOrd to start selling European style picks individually might want to take a look here:

SouthOrd Euros

Postby Romstar » 12 May 2004 23:20

If anyone has a SouthOrd slim line set, could you please tell me if they are a different steel, or if they are only a thiner stock?

Thanks,
Romstar

It's the same steel. The only thing thinner is the end of the pick:

does that mean that the hooks are shallower?

Not necessarily.

These are imaginary numbers, but if the Southords are 1mm thick, the Euros are .75mm thick. Anyone out there have a caliber so you can explain this using real numbers?

I'm interested in them because of that (I need the feel more than I need the strength) and because two of them are awful DeForest looking, and that angled rake looks pretty slick too...

Thanks Quin, that's what I thought.

That means that the SouthOrd SlimLines are the exact same thing I have been making for years.

Thinner steel, and narrower shafts on the picks.

Reference my original set at:

I'm going to have to get a digital camera. You can't tell that those picks are actually polished. <G>

Romstar-

With your choice of rulers, Im supprized that you didn't make any Snowman picks (double ball).

Double ball picks

Postby Romstar » 13 May 2004 17:03

There used to be a double ball in fact. It was one of the tools that didn't make it through all these years.

If you look, you will see that there are 10 picks. There used to be 12. I burned two of them while making them, and just never replaced them. I find the single ball to be quite effective when I want a ball pick.

There are several new "products" in the works here at Romstar Systems. Standard picks, SlimLine Picks, "jack knife" style picks. Several varities of handles, as well as new "real" style pick cases.

Pen style pick sets, A duplicate of the Computer pick system, as well as a new set of wire type picks.

The worst problem I am having is being so busy really holds up the production process.

Oh well, only one man, and two hands.
