Both look reasonable, I don't use templates when I make the picks, the quarter inch chain saw file determines the dimension of the round valleys, and the width of the sweeper bristle stock will determine the height of the peak, I try to place the round valleys with the file so that there is just the small bit of natural edge of the bristle between each valley. And the undercuts are an attempt to keep a lot of the pick tip in a width near the same as the shaft as it tapers to the tip. The reason for this is that it will allow the pick to bend and spring back rather than take a bend and set or eventually crack from stress building on a weak spot. If the weak spot is long, it will bend and spring back, rather than take a set.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
