I need homebrew hook pick templates.

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I need homebrew hook pick templates.

i'm just starting to play around with padlocks..i made on pick oout of a hacksaw blade but didnt put enough hoook into it so what im wanting is a few templates of the "few" basic picks that will be good to have for padlocks...i'm sure there must be a few that are really good for padlocks where others are good for other types?...i see on here sets of 11 and 18...i'm hoping i dont have to make that any... any templates would be apprecitated thanks

Well, the Collection of Templates sticky is a good place to start.

If you're starting out single-pin picking on a padlock, I'd suggest starting with a good tension wrench and a smallish hook: something like the first hook shown in Romstar's "15 pick templates" (see the above thread). A small diamond of similar dimensions might also be useful. I wouldn't be in a hurry to make an 18-piece set until you've mastered working with the basics, and also mastered making good, smooth picks.

Welcome to lockpicking! :)

I've found that a half-diamond seems to work better than my short hook in most of my padlocks. Both though are very common and basic picks that you will want in your collection.

Well if your just screwing around you are not going to learn anything, but if you want to try a little you may just learn what to do....

Your not going to open the first lock you try or open every lock you try on the first try, so its gonna take some practice and some getting used to.

As far as picks post some pics of the ones you have made so far if you can so we can see what you are doing wrong if anything, also let us know how you are using the picks....like how hard are you turning the tension wrench.....

Also what brand is the lock, it may be to advanced for you at the moment.
