SOUTHORD JACK-KNIFE ???

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

SOUTHORD JACK-KNIFE ???

Postby markracer » 3 Jun 2004 6:40

Has anybody replaced picks in the SouthOrd Jack-Knife? If so, what is the best way for removing the pin that holds everything in place? I would like to customize other picks for this rascal.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Anybody???

Postby markracer » 3 Jun 2004 10:17

Come on...out of 16 reads I'm sure somebody has an answer. I could possibly drill the pin in which case I will need to replace it with a screw and nut. Or, I could place in a vise and use an awl to punch it out. I just wished the thing was threaded with a screw head for easy removal. Oh well...Any other bright lights out there???

Yeah, I've replaced mine. I put two half-diamonds on it instead of having a broken key extractor. A punch and hammer do fine to remove the pin, and do fine putting it back in.

Never underestimate the half-diamond.

I think it is. Just use proper size of punch and You really don't need so much force to remove the pin.
