First one down!

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Well today after watching pyros video i made my own hook and tension bar. I then went to walmart and bought the cheapest deadbolt they had. It took only three rakes and it opened. I about had a heart attack from the joy. I couldnt believe that i could actually design a tool(wel atleast make the tool) and then put it in a lock and open the lock. This lock is really cheap though and didnt even include a key with it. Kinda funny as this way I have a real reason to have to pick it. Incase anyone wondered it says faultless on the face of it. Im still a little affraid of busting the door locks on the house so i may just have to dig and find an old padlock. This lock though has really taught me a lot. I read the MIT file and watched both h2k and h2k2 plus all the others in the FAQ threads. If there is any other helpful videos out there could you link me to them. im trying to learn as much as possible and any help would be great. Also I am affraid of buying online any pick as I dont really want to be known(my address and name and creditcard) as a guy with any picks/ability to pick and was wondering what type of local stores sell lock picks. This one knock off store used to carry jimmy bars and I had hopes they would have picks too but neither the picks or jimmy bars were still there and I would like to have a set that can start me in the correct dirrection instead of my creations. Thanks and I hope to be here a lot and learn a lot about locks and picking.

Hi Benzy,

You're already well ahead of the game and it's nice to see someone who's already read the MIT guide, watched the videos etc before they start posting on here. It's very refreshing!

I don't know what country you’re in but I doubt you'll find any shop that will sell picks over the counter but if you’re near one of the online suppliers they may let you walk in and buy them (I know I do).

Other than that don't forget that most will also let you order via money orders and cheques etc so there is no need to feel worried.

Welcome aboard!

I have every bit of faith in internet shopping that a person CAN have. went to lockpicks.com, got a bunch of fun stuff, and I'm rolling :D

that feeling **IS** great, isn't it?

2 things, 1, you're kind of lucky to have gotten a lock that your rake works for - most excellent

and second, you bought a lock at walmart that had no key? how exactly?

honestly i dont know how it came with no key. It kinda pissed me off because i was actually hoping for a key to make suer i didnt mess the lock up. It was the cheapest deadbolt that walmart sold and it came with no key. it also says it is rekeyable but came with no instructions on how to rekey it. The rake itself that i made didnt work but if i rake with the hook it works fine. Maybe i should take the lock back and get a new one seeing it didnt come with any keys. Maybe the new lock would be a little harder to pick too.

Today I picked my second lock! It was an old master padlock I had laying around. ive gotten the first lock down to less than a minute and it is open and often it only takes a few seconds. I hopee I can get good at the master lock too. This is so much fun. I think that that padlock was a little cooler when it opened because it actually opened something. Well maybe ill try the front door a little soon. :P

i've ordered from over 50 online shops in the past year, including many lockpicking websites... never had a problem (knock on wood). i have complete faith in them, usually the cc is destroyed after the order is shipped.

good luck picking, and definatly don't overlook online pick shops, as a few sponser this site and quin himself owns one in britain.

What is the MIT guide and where can I get it?

Postby Bleach » 20 Jun 2004 7:34

I am really interested in lock picking literature and I really NEED to read that MIT guide, but WHAT the hell is it and WHERE is it?

I asked about manual in this forum but noone has replied to my topic. Sad. I should hang myself, right?

So tell me about it! Please!

Go to google and do a search for MIT guide. There is one copy on blackmarketpress and there are a few other copies around the place. Crypto website (again in the links) also has a guide that some people believe is better than MIT guide.

Best of luck

Hey Benzy, I've got one of those Faultless locks as well. I was just wondering, did yours have one pin set significantly lower than all the rest? For me it's the second one into the plug and I think it caused me a lot of anguish when I first tried learning on it... Until i realized it sets as soon as I stick a pick in the lock. :?
