my set of picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Depends entirely on the lock. What brand, what does the key look like etc.

The diamond pick works nicely for raking as long as you're skilled enough. Ive also found from personal experience that the hook pick works alright for raking as well. Its faster too cos you can try the single picking method first with the hook and when that doesnt work you can use the same pick for raking, no need to waste time switching tools. But becareful though cos ive noticed that the hook pick is the one that gets bent out of shape most often.

Thats the problem i found with south ord picks the hook did bend the most often, since i moved to hpc i havnt had that problem.

My favorite SouthOrd hook is slightly bent. When I switched to homebrew or peterson for everyday picking, I found that I no longer have that problem. I think it may just be the steel that SO uses in general.

I have been browsing the old forums and noticed you posted the below comment about south ord picks. What made you change your mind?

Luke probably hadn't experienced HPC's picks back then.

I tend to agree, almost every manufacturer is better than SoutOrd, I find it difficult to explain in words why, they just are.

Exactly, I have now experienced Southord, Peterson, Majestic and HPC and HPC wins!

I do not think the south ord bashing is worth it, considering it is surely better than home made picks and hence a set up. They might not be the bees knees but that does not mean you have to give them trash or put them down. I am sure you can give a civilised answer as to what makes them harder to pick but it does not mean that people should feel bad for buying them. I mean they are more accessable and for a beginner they are a great choice.

But of course, they are trash because they are not my best picks is going to be the standard line it seems.
