home made

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

This is definately a personal preference issue. If you do make them, give them more handle in the middle, say something like a Falle pick or LAB offering. THe very slim double sided picks sold by HPC and SouthOrd are in my opinion, very hard to use

I got 2 double sided picks from southord with my set... I hate them... they're too flimsy and not long enough for the way I like to hold them (choke up on the tang and let the handle rest against my hand for stability) and I find they're too skinny in the middle which makes them want to rotate... soo.. yea... just my .02
I wish the world was flat like the old days, and I could travel just by folding the map.

If you're going to do home made, do the faux dental style setup. Go buy an exacto knife and fit a pick for that. I love mine - I would have pictures up, but i've been lazy. It isn't hard at all.

The handles were grabbed from hobby knives, but the pick parts were hand ground, finished and polished.

Funny Chucklz, those handles look exactly like mine except right behind the screw down grip there there is a ring that goes around, indented into the metal that is. I scared it up using some 220, the holder, and going to try to get some finer paper and buff it down :)

I love hobby knife handles. So easy and cheap. The hook is about the same height as a SouthOrd hook.

What you cant tell from the photos is that both pick heads are actually stainless steel and shined to a mirror finish.

i found some 600 grit silicon carbide finishing paper and it made my set of picks really really shiny.
