Screwdriver for wrench

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Screwdriver for wrench

Postby Garrett » 24 Jun 2004 5:48

Has anyone used screwdriver for tension wrench? I tried but it didn't work. Anyway i was told many times that a flatend screwdriver can work fine.

I dont know how it should be used.
1. Just like screwing the lock
2. Pressing on the top half of the lock to the rotating direction?

hope you understand what i mean. If not i will post some pictures.

I picked my first lock using a flat head screwdriver as a wrench. have
you picked any locks yet? if not then have another read of the MIT guide
first, then use the screwdriver just like a normal tension wrench. the
most common problem is applying way too much tension and a
screwdriver doesn't lend itself to small amounts of tension.

but if you are using it, you don't push it against anything, or "screw" the
lock or anything, just use it to apply a bit of force while you pick the lock
like normal.

better yet, get yourself a small piece of metal that has been bent into an
L shape. (even a bobie bin is better than a non-bent screwdriver).
Oh look! it's 2016!

probably the pressing one will give you the most room (with your hands
as well as manuvering the pick in the hole), but I'd still highly reccomend
that you get bent tweasers or bobbie pin or a wind screen wiper blade or
something other than a screwdriver.

a link to the MIT guide can be found in the FAQ's of this site..

afterthought: I opened my first with the "screwing" method, but the screwdriver had a smaller head....
