The Piggyback Project

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

The Piggyback Project

THE PIGGYBACK PROJECT
So, after some time of lurking around on this amazing forum, here I am with a small project.
When dealing with picksets, my main interest has been that to create a set :
1) Complete (more or less)
2) Easy to be concealed
So I came up with this idea I want to share with you.
This set is indeed small, but has , L to R :

Flexable Tension wrench. I found that the curve bending is better than a stock 90 degrees angle. Personal opinion of course.
Half ball : useful with some cabinet locks
Bogota
Rigid tension wrench
Hook
Double bogota
Diamond
When folded, this set is VERY small

Of course comments are welcome, I brew picks only from four weeks or so.
Peace!

Edit: Pic changed to link for size

Why does it matter that it's concealed?

Other than it being a cool idea, that would be my only question as well...although it is fun to take picks around with you, ANY attempt to conceal them will make it that much harder to prove you arent up to no good...keeping them small is cool, but staying out of trouble is really cool

i don't go anywhere without a basic set of picks. the other day, my next door neighbor locked herself out of her house and flagged me down when i arrived home from work. she told me that she'd been locked out for about 90 minutes. when i asked why she didn't call me at the shop, she grinned and said she knew i'd be getting home soon and would do it for free.

Well, carrying picks here in Italy is not a violation of laws per se, but it CAN (amazingly well written law article) be considered a violation depending upon the circumstances in which you're found with picks on you.
I mean, there is a huge difference between being found with a full pickset, electric pickgun, crowbar and every other burglary related paraphernalia -even if thieves here don't rely on a non destructive approach when entering houses :( - and being an unoffensive white collar with a tiny set of picks.
BTW if you attach this small set to a keychain it won't be absolutely noticed :-)

sanding

Postby raimundo » 2 May 2008 8:28

from the large close up, it looked like they could use some sanding along the top edge of the shafts.

when you make them smooth, they just work so much better.
