Fiber Picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Hi.... I'm wondering if anyone has used the kinda-new "Fiber Picks"???

In “Theory” they SHOULD work incredibly well… I’m considering buying a set or three to try… ANY INPUT???

Fiber picks are a relatively new product made by an outfit called Pickmasters.

See their link here: http://www.pickmasters.net/Merchant2/me ... Code=TFPSS

Their claim to fame are these fibre picks and some other devices that they claim will "pick" or bypass locks such as Medeco.

They also claim that they sell these products only to locksmiths and other security professionals.

Having said all that, I have had no experience with either their product or their staff.

I personally would advise you to excercise caution, but if you do purchase these tools, I'd be more than happy to read your review of them.

Best of luck.

fiber picks

Postby evva3ks » 9 Nov 2003 17:37

Hi there,

I am from Germany and I have imported some sets because off the - in my opinion - good idea.
After exessive tryouts, I have to say I am not confident at all.
I did not open a single lock with these tools and I know what I am talking about, as I am highly skilled in lock picking.
My recommendation is stick to the classic tools.
I did not try with Medeco - but if you can´t open a normal easy to pick Abus five pin tumbler lock - a Medeco should withstand even better !!!
Greetings from Germany,
Oli

I bought an Abus five pin tumbler cylinder this weekend and i must say that it´s not easy to pick at all.

I have been able to pick it using an electric pick gun and using computer generated picks but not with picks.

Maybe we are talking about different Abus five pin tumbler locks, don´t know. Mine seems to have mushrooms pins and it came labeled as "anti-picking".

Look at the bright side, if they don't work as picks you'll have a sparkling set of tumbler pins...does anyone know if they do pin floss

Hello. Is it just me or do these fiberpicks just seem like narrow toothbrushes. And with that said I bet I could make my own homemade one. Just file down a tooth brush, just make sure to have some bristles left. Then harden the bristles (no idea how to do so). Seems like this is the way to go to me. If anyone wants to try this as I am short of funds please do and post your results and also is it possible to buy that tension wrench they have as a single item? It seems pretty cool. Well anyways thats my humble opinion.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

fibre picks pictures

Postby evva3ks » 16 Jan 2004 14:53

Hi everybody - I have been asked to post some pictures of my fibre picks -
here they are.
As I have written before - in my opinion they are not good at all.
Take a close look and you will see, that you only need some needles, some sort of handle and some nylon string and some good glue.
It is not worth spending a lot of money for these picks.........

(for the reply on the ABUS - it is exactly the type of lock I meant before and this lock is German standard quality- normally they are not so easy to pick with the electric pick gun congratulations !)[/img]
