My first handmade / homebrew picks.

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

My first handmade / homebrew picks.

First I must say a big thanks to LockNewbie21 for his posts. I had been using a busted off rake for spping, and I might have made the leap to the elbow...eventually. So if this greatly resembles his design it is out of homage when I post one, NOT because I want to steal credit.

So, this is a cutaway and pick I made for my brother. The pick was originally a joke, but it turned out to be a good pick for padlocks. Perfect for the pencil grip, and hopefully a neat post for my first pics.

Not so shiny because he has been using it.

Thanks to everybody who shares their pics and info on how to take better ones. Hope you enjoy my first attempt at rainy day photos.

The pencil would have to be one of the most original handles I've seen.

And nice looking cut away

Very nice cut away, what tools did you use to make that cut away?

Thanks Crimialhate. I call it pen pick regression  The pencil grip is the only way it gives proper feedback since any grip where you aren't touching the pick it is dampened by hot glue and pencil.

Tango, I used a dremel with a brass brush to clean corrosion off the cylinder, sandpaper to clean the rust off the inside of body and shackle, cutting wheel on the disassembled plug and sleave to start the cuts, and a flat file to finish. You can see the spots on the copper where the dremel wandered because I rushed :( Then a carbide rod hacksaw on the body and cleaned the cuts up with a file. Oh, and superglue to replace the Masterlock band. Making it was easier than finding the right light to photograph it.

It is one of my favourite hook styles. This one was a gag so it is really exagerated, but it works well for the one grip. Not the greatest, but I thought it might stick out for a first pic post.

I use only my own picks, so yes. I have many, and as soon as I get some finer polishing compound I have an attractive King pick I want to post. As soon as I get some good light...

I really want to make a cutaway padlock, yet haven't found the time.
Maybe in these school holidays if I push some other things aside.

There just aren't enough hours in the day :?
